MacBook Pro not showing lock screen on lid open

Since one of the last updates to Yosemite, my MacBook Pro Retina 13' no longer shows the lock screen when the lid is opened even after hours of sleep. This is a huge security risk!

The checkmark is still there in the Security settings > General > Require password after sleep. I've tried '5 minutes' and 'immediate', both no longer have any effect at all.

Interesting: Whenever I invoke the screensaver by moving into the hot corner, the following lines would appear in system.log (see below).

Has anyone had the same experience? Any help?

First open System Preference.User uploaded file

Then click Users & Groups User uploaded file

Once you are in Users & Groups click on Login OptionsUser uploaded fileUser uploaded file

Once you are in Login Options, everything should be greyed out like this.User uploaded file

Now you you have to click the Pad Lock this on the bottom left hand of the screen.User uploaded file

Once you click that Pad Lock, you should be prompted to enter your Administrator password.User uploaded file

After you enter your Password you should see that all of your options will be in color, and you may click them. User uploaded file

Find the Automatic Login tab and make sure that "OFF" is highlighted and selected.User uploaded file

Once you have changed that setting, or resubmitted that setting, go down to bottom left hand corner click the unlocked Pad Lock to lock and save your settings.User uploaded file

Once you have completed all of these steps, test drive it by clicking on the Apple Logo on the top left corner of the screen and press sleep, or just close the lid. Your choice. I really do hope that these instructions were helpful.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

Have you tried NVRAM reset??

Resetting NVRAM

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
  3. Turn on your Mac.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
  5. Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
  6. Release the keys.

Thanks for the elaborate answer. Unfortunately, it does not solve my problem as Automatic login is already disabled. The login screen does appear when I completely restart the Mac; it just doesn't appear any more after sleep. It used to show the password screen even after sleep, but one of the recent updates seems to have broken this behaviour...
