There used to be third-party software to help old PowerPC (pre-intel) based Macs run

the vintage build Windows OS on them, by virtualization, and as times it was rather slow.

Emulation software is harder to get for PowerPC hardware computers to run Windows

within the PPC Mac; the may be a few available, some old titles of discontinued versions

may be found online at ebay or amazon affiliate stores. Older Virtual PC (microsoft) may

or may not allow you to run Windows on certain versions of PowerPC Mac hardware.

http://macvm.com/guest-pc/ Guest PC has a virtual pc emulation software listed for about $70.

and with that you'd still have to have a licensed version of Windows XP to run Windows on Mac.

Their home page is: http://www.lismoresystems.com/en/ -- Or look for a later model Mac with an

Intel-based processor, built after 2006, for other newer options.

In any event...

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

VirtualPC with XP requires you max your RAM. And you still will not get really optimized game, audio or video performance. If you need those, your Powerbook really is not what should be running it, unless you have old Mac games. There is also Macmame which offers a lot of old arcade game access.

If the purpose is to open Office documents, there are older versions of OpenOffice for PowerPC that will run on Mac OS X. And there are older versions of Filemaker Pro that will open exported tab delimited text files and dBase files that Access can produce. The only reason to run XP on those older Macs is for temporarily preserving formatting and compatibility with applications that have no Mac counterparts from those days. Ask what you need to run on your Mac, and perhaps someone can give you the Mac equivalent. My FAQ* can help:
