I have made several books using iPhoto. I'm starting a new one using Photos and cannot find in the 'layout' option where you can add captions (or titles) to individual photos. Am I missing something or is the ability to add a caption to individual photos in a book now gone?

You can write titles into the textfields below a photo. Just pick a page layout with textfields below the photos. But the titles and captions cannot be entered automatically from the titles and captions of the photos. You have to add them there manually.
But there is usually only one text field per page. Soy would have to place each photo onto a separate page to have one caption per photo.
Is there a way to know which themes have text fields? I am currently going through them one at a time and trying to identify what layouts might work but this is a painful way to do it!

All themes I checked allow a text box on the pages, if you select a suitable page layout. But you cannot customize the size of the text boxes and you cannot move them. And there ais at most one text box per page. It is not possible to have several photos with individual titles on the same page.
