Please describe a little more about how you are attempting to delete photos in Photos. Remember we are not there to see what steps you are taking so please try to describe it.

Deleting Photos from a Photos Library

1 - regardless of where you are in the library, i.e. Moments, Collections, albums, smart albums or projects, select the photo(s) you want to delete and use the key combination of Command+Delete to move the photos to the Recently Deleted smart album.

2 - use the File ➙ Show Recently Deleted menu option to go to the Recently Deleted smart album.

3 - in the Recently Deleted album you and opt to let the photo automatically delete after the 30 day waiting period is up, delete them immediately or restore them to the library.

NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes the photo from that item. Deleting a photo from a Moment or Collection deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

Thank you. The photos still appear in the album, even thought I have deleted them as you instructed.

I followed the other poster's advice. I was using plain "Delete" and it would ask "Do you want to Delete?" and I'd answer "yes".

Only after restarting Photos the photos are gone.

Don't appear where?  The Last Import album?  Photos from emails that are imported as you do bypass the Last Import album.  They can be found at the bottom of the All Photos window which sorts by Date Added.

Yes, it used to work but does not work now. No imports from Mail appear.
