Default font in Safari and Chrome have changed since updating to MS Office 2016

Hey there. So I updated to Office 2016 today. Before installing, I followed instructions from Microsoft's website (found here: https://support.office.microsoft.com/en-us/article/Uninstall-Office-2011-from-a- Mac-ba8d8d13-0015-4eea-b60b-7719c2cedd17 ) to uninstall Office 2011.

I've noticed since then that the font on certain sites (not all) have changed. I thought it was only occurring in Safari but i checked in Chrome and had the same issue. I'm guessing it had something to do with all the files I deleted along with Office 2011, since the instructions from Microsoft were pretty comprehensive. Also I don't think restoring defaults would help since the issue was in chrome which I've never used. I also tried deleting all of the com.safari plist files, but it also didn't help.

Is there any way to fix this? Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Back up all data before proceeding.

Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.

Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.

If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select

FileRestore Standard Fonts...

You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.

Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.
