Battery replacement
Will apple (or anyone else) still replace a battery on an iPhone 3gs?

Yes, but consider that the 3GS is 6 generations out of date, it is frozen at an old version of iOS, and most apps require a newer iOS version. So I'm not convinced that investing in a battery is good economics. It's like cars; once they get really old it isn't worth investing in repairs rather than replacement.
