Q: my mac has started making quite a loud running noise

Hi,

I have a mid 2013 11inch Macbook Air running OS X 10.10.4. The noise may be the fan but I'm not sure.

You might run an Apple Hardware Test:

Note that an error free AHT is not definitive.

I think this solved it . . . After I did it nothing happened but later the noise was gone, came back briefly then went again . . . so I guess it's fixed now, thanks!
