What is Developer Tools on Xcode?

I am new to Xcode and am just learning how to program. I was trying to run a basic iPhone 6 application (all it was were two labels, both text) when a window popped up and this is exactly what it said: "Developer Tools Access needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue. Type the name and password of a user in the 'Developer Tools' group to allow this." I typed in the name and password of the admin and myself, but neither worked. I was wondering if I have to join the Developer Tools Group or am I just a total noob that is missing something obvious?
