How do you test a DC-in Board?

Hi,
I own a powerbook G4 which won't charge or turn on anymore, and I took it in to an Apple repair center which said they didn't even want to open it and that I should probably get a new one (they sounded pretty incompetent)...
Anyway, I decided I should do it myself, so I opened the whole thing up (without breaking it, which even impressed me).
And it seems like the DC-In board doesn't work anymore and I would like to know how to know as I don't want to buy a new one and figure out that wasn't the problem

Welcome to the Apple discussions.

Prior to disaasembly, did you run the Apple hardware test? If yes, did that point out anything?

You did confirm that your power adapter is putting out the correct output?

I'm having a similar problem after changing to the replacement battery i received with the battery exchange program. I'm unsure if its the DC-in board or the PRAM battery.

I've found 2 US sites that offer spare Mac parts:

Hi and thanks for your answers.
I couldn't really try the Apple Hardware test since the computer won't boot. What I am looking for is a way to test "electronically" whether it is giving the right output to the right parts or not,

I;'m having the same problem as you. When I press the power button it makes this pathetic one-second clicking noise but it doesn't do a thing. I left it on sleep mode without it plugged in and now it is in this state. What happened to your PB? Did you figure out how to fix it?
