Every time I go into iTunes it asks me to log onto my account. Last time it was 9 times in a row. Shouldn't once be enough? How do I stop this from happening? I've had iTunes for about 15 years and this is a new one for me. I thought there would have been a fix for this by now. It's done this for a few months now.

If I understand correctly you are being prompted for your Apple ID password over and over when you open the iTunes application on your Mac. I would recommend you have a look at the troubleshooting in the following article:

I tried all those things and it still asks. If I get ticked off and click on Close instead, it still doesn't help. It asked me 14 times in a row. It's not just to play purchased product. I have CD's and I digitized some records and cassettes years ago that I play. If I hit close enough times I can eventually just hit play and everything is fine.
Thanks for the update. I would next sign out of the store:
iTunes 12 for Mac: Manage your iTunes Store account
Choose Store > Sign In (or Sign Out).
Then download a fresh copy of iTunes from here, and install it:
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
Then restart the computer, sign back in, and try again.
