Is it safe to download DIVX
I keep getting an update reminder for Div X. Is it safe to update and do I really need it?

DivX plays certain streaming video content, movies etc.
If it is saying update then you have installed it before. You can choose not to update or delete it off your machine if you see fit.
If you upgrade look for any upsell along the way you may not want and skip these non essentials
