2015 MacBook Air Maxed Out Questions??

I am looking to purchase a MacBook Air for my school needs.. Do yall think a 2015 13 Inch MacBook Air Core i7 Proccesor 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd would last me 6 years? I am currently a junior in high school and would like it to last me till I finish college and then hopefully buy an iMac or MacBook Pro. Im fine with having to buy an external hard drive if need be. I will be mainly using Microsoft office 2016 when it comes out in the fall and just scanning the web, watching YouTube, and downloadding a few apps such as Twitter and Spotify. Thanks in advance for yalls opinions!:) My computer now isnt cutting it, i currently have a compac presario cq57 running windows 10 preview with 2gb of ram (1.60 usable) and a horribly slow proccesor. I will be taking many ap classes next year (college level classes in highschool) which will require lots of writing and searching the web. Im hoping with by maxing it out it will last me through 6 years, i keep all my apple products in prestine condition so breaking it wont be a problem. Just want to know if it wont be completely outdated by then and i can still use it perfectly. Thanks again.

In 6 years, it will be able to do everything it can do now. Will it 'last' you that long? It's impossible to say. It's one of the best built machines on the planet, but your needs could very well change in the next 6 years, or the next two for that matter. No one can predict what the changes in technology will bring.

A 2009 MBA is pretty dated now, but it still functions. It will Run Yosemite. Barely. It came with 2GB of RAM.

There is no guarantee that anything you buy today will meet your needs in 6 years.
