Passwords not working?

I had to force restart my mac. The entire thing froze and I got some weird error, so I force restarted it again. When it logged in, it asked for my facetime and iMessage passwords (my apple ID password). Each of these accepted the password and then asked me for the password again. I entered my password in each one (correctly) a dozen times before canceling. Now I cannot facetime or access iMessages on my macbook. What is the solution to this?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

I'm not 100% sure what is going on but I'd suggest taking a look at this Apple support article and following the troubleshooting there. Essentially I'm wondering whether you actually need to generate app-specific passwords, or if there is perhaps some problem with signing in to your Apple ID. The article will give you steps to trouble shoot the problem.

Hope that helps.
