When I start my iMac from CMD-Opt-R, the globe appears and the recovery is downloading after that an Apple logo appears and nothing happens.
What's the next step from there?
Do I wait? When I do, my display sleeps.
Do I keep retrying until I get the Recovery menu?
Shut your iMac down.
Wait at least ten seconds then instead of Command + Option + R use Command + R instead.
If that doesn't help, restart your internet modem and Wi-Fi router if you use one then try again.
Thank you for your reply. I conducted all the possible troubleshooting steps. All with negative results. My last option was to send to Apple Genius. Decided not to and opted to buy a custom-build gaming PC. Ended up giving my iMac to a co-worker. 🙂
