Q: lost pictures in 2 iPhoto event folders

I lost pictures in 2 event folders in iPhoto ..I need help on how to restore them.Is there a way to just restore 2 folders? Thanks

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

External HD..but not recently

That's where to backed them up to. How you restore from a back up depends entirely on how you made the back up.
