I said exactly what I wanted to say and I was quite brief. Nothing "happens" when you restore your phone except that you have to set i up again.

so if you restore your iphone every day then you could end up wearing out the storage in a year or 2

A very large number. I believe typical flash memory has better than 100,000 write cycles. Stop worrying about it.
