experiencing keyboard issues with mac desktop

certain keys on keyboard are not responding - attempted all support troubleshooting hints and was not able to solve problem. do we need to buy new keyboard? letters i k , 8 are not working. used "show character viewer" to type this message. can someone help?

It sounds like some of the keys on the keyboard connected to your iMac aren't working as expected. If you haven't already, take a look at the article linked below which will help isolate and resolve keyboard issues.
