Hi! I am having iMac and MacBook Pro --both under OS X Yesomite. I am not a tech-savvy person. From the Apple website, I could not find out
whether I can transfer files/photos from my iMac to my MacBook Pro and vice-versa. If possible, can anybody explain to me how to do ?

I have gone thru the topic in the given link ; tried several times, not working.
My iMac is having the name J's iMac and my MacBook Pro (13" -- without retina display) is in the name of J'sMacBookPro. Is there any problem in the names of the desktop and laptop? Should I change the names? Bluetooth was "on" in iMac and MacBook Pro while trying "airdrop". Can you help me ?

If your iMac is older than 2012, then it uses legacy Airdrop. For an older Mac and a newer Mac to see each other in AirDrop, you have to put the new one in Legacy Airdrop mode.
On the Airdrop window, click the Don't see who you're looking for? link and click the Search for an older Mac button.
