Q: Can't login to iTunes 12.2 with Two Step Verification

When I try to login, after inputting my Apple ID and password, into iTunes 12.2 it prompts my other trusted devices for a verification code for iTunes.  The problem is there is no place in iTunes to input this code so it won't finish logging in.  Same thing happens on Apple TV.

 

The simple solutions seems to be to turn off two step authentication but when I go to the appleid.apple.com site to change it I cannot turn it off (reasons for this are odd: as a member of the beta program it sends me to the beta version of appleid.apple.com where the option can't be changed, my wife can change hers on the regular site as she isn't a beta member).

 

Anyone know any work arounds or how to turn off two step verification as a member of the beta program?

    I found the fix after music trial and error.

     

    You must type you user name and password in iTunes.  It will then prompt you for user name and password and verification code.  Type your password immediately followed by the six digit code that appears on your phone or computer.  e.g. password123456

     

    As strange as it sounds it works and will finish the login.  Same goes for Apple TV.  If you need a code one can be generated on the iPhone from settings-->iCloud-->scroll to bottom--> Get Verification Code

    Yeah... I tried calling them too. Explained the situation a minimum of 10 times and after an hour and a half took it into my own hands by basically experimenting everything that came to my mind. Glad it helped someone else. Cheers!

    I wish I would have read your response properly. I was expecting a screen to enter the verification code in iTunes, but that didn't happen. I finally figured out that you enter the code when entering your passcode.

     

    FYI: Before I did this, I contacted Apple Support to have two-step turned off. They stated that I would have to roll back to OS X Yosemite and iOS 8.4 in order to do this, as they are not able to do it with OS X El Capitan and iOS 9 as of yet as they do not have a workflow. I forgot as to whether or not two-step is permanently baked into both operating systems. I just know you can't turn it off when trying to do it through Beta website.

     

    I'm enjoying both platforms, I just wish the iTunes process was a little more straightforward.

    You will never realize how much this has helped this problem. I was having the same issue and talked with the geniu bar had no clue what to do. Thanks so very much. I'm using all beta IOS9 and El Capitan and was about to throw in the towel. This straightened all the issues out. Thanks a million!

    In El Capitan an iOS9, on top of Two-Step Verification, Apple is introducing Two-Factor Authentication - these two thing are different and disabling Two-Step Verification not necessary will disable Two-Factor Authentication:

    Thank you so much for posting this. This is the stupidest thing I have seen in a long time. Create two factor authentication, then give the user no idea what to do with it.

    I have a similar problem.  I actually would put in the verification code in the right place if only my ipad2 could manage to receive the code.  there's not a link to click asking for the code to be sent to a different trusted device, so I'm at a dead end.  I naively upgraded to ios 9, which I think is part of my problem.  Any ideas, anyone?

    I have an ipad2, running iOs 9.  If I try to do what you recommend above, when I get to the "tap your apple ID" step, the thing starts clocking and gets stuck there.  It won't go beyond that, so I can't "scroll to the bottom," and "get a verification code."

    There is no "get verification code" at the bottom of icloud settings. Where can I find the verification code?

    Oh my god. It worked. I, too, spent an hour trying to figure where they wanted us to enter this code. This was so ridiculously non-intuitive it's pathetic. They really need to make their instructions clearer.
