Received a Mac Mini from my Brother In Law with VMware esxi installed on it how can I remove this and reinstall a mac OS on it?

Need more information.That same model number is used for all Minis from 2010 to the current 2104 Mini. The 2010 Min can only boot to internet Recovery if the firmware was update.
Try booting to Internet Recovery. See:

If you can they install OSX using the instructions in the above.
If you can't that mean you have a non-firmware/EFI updated 2010. In that case either call Apple and order original replacement DVDs at a nominnal cost or order the retail Snow Leopard DVD here

Then boot from the install DVD and install OSX. Press and hld the the C key when booting to boot from the DVD.
well I tried internet recovery using control option R but it boots straight to the VMware software.... tried searching for document online on how to remove VMware from the device but only finding information on how to install VMware... its a i7 16gb mac 2.30ghz
That is a late 2102 Mini and that has Internet recovery.
Are you using a wired USB keyboard connected directly to the Mac?

Thanks a lot I watched the vied and it seems I need the admin user information and be on his network before I can mount the new os on the device.... still looking for a solution which would enable me to boot new os from start up off to the mac store Monday...
