Can is use a LG 34uc97 (in 3440x1440 mode) with a late 2012 Mac mini? Do I use two ports?

is the Mac Mini (late 2012) going to work with a 3440x1440 monitor? I have thunderbolt but not thunderbolt 2. I currently drive two 1920x1080 monitors but would love to get to a single monitor. Do I use both ports?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

You need one of these. It uses one USB port for power and the Thunderbolt ports (the mini displayport plugs into it)

You can still use a DVI (with adopter) or HDMI monitor on the HDMI port. That port only supports max of 1920x1200
