Jul 13, 2015 3:07 AM in response to pan123by seventy one,Hello pan123
If the keyboard is normally used from a position in front of your machine ... buy a USB version. You won't need to keep buying batteries for it and it is connectable into any iMac port. I have 10.6.8 and it works fine with that.

Jul 13, 2015 3:24 AM in response to pan123by Mike Sombrio,You need to be logged in to pair a new bluetooth device. It sounds like you're going to have to have a wired keyboard in order to do that. Practally any USB keyboard will work, see if you can borrow one or pick up a cheap one somewhere. Once you're logged in unpair your existing wireless and the pair your new keyboard, instructions are in the article I linked.
OR......just get and use a wired USB keyboard it's much more reliable and you don't have issues like this. I use Apples USB model with the number pad.

Jul 13, 2015 3:27 AM in response to pan123by Mike Sombrio,A thought first.....have you tried resetting the SMC? Sometimes that can help strange issues.
To reset the SMC on Intel-based Mac Pro, iMac, and Mac mini computers, as well as Xserve:
- Shut down the computer.
- Unplug the power cord.
- Wait fifteen seconds.
- Attach the power cord.
- Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

Jul 13, 2015 3:38 AM in response to pan123by seventy one,Are you sure the keyboard has not been exposed to a spillage or damp. This is particularly likely where the faulty letters are in a row or a linked group.
