Questions about iPad

I'm in the market for a tablet. Just when I think that i've made up my mind, I change it again! I keep switching back & forth between an Android tablet & an iPad.

I have some questions.

How does one import bookmarks into the browser? I recently watched a YouTube video about the SanDisk iExpand flash drive. One can export the bookmarks from their Mac or PC & copy them to the iExpand flash drive, but then how can the bookmarks be imported into the browser on the iPad?

Can icons on the "Desktop" be hidden or just moved from one home screen to another? I know that if one touches & holds an icon, all of them start jiggling. Then each one can be moved. What is the "X" in the upper left of the icon? I saw it on a YouTube video. Does it represent apps that were downloaded & can be deleted?

Is it possible to do a clean install of iOS? I can't think of any reason why one would want to do it, I was just wondering. I suppose that doing a factory reset is the same as nuking the iPad & doing a clean install.

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

OK.

This morning I spent a while at Barnes & Noble reading thru books on the iPad. Both iTunes & iCloud can be used to back up the iPad. I just came from Best Buy & I asked an Apple person what's the difference between backing up the iPad using iTunes versus using iCloud. He said that backing up the iPad using iTunes backs the iPad up on the local hard drive. Well, you know Murphy's Law. Any data that's backed up to the local hard drive will be lost if the hard drive crashes. That being the case, I'd rather back up an iPad to iCloud. But I also want to be able to "nuke" the iPad & restore it to its factory settings. I can't remember which book I read it in, but the iPad can be restored. I just can't remember if it can be restored from an iTunes or an iCloud backup. I hope that it is from an iCloud backup.

He's clueless. When you use iTunes, the default backup is to iCloud. You can select your HD if you wish but, after the backup is created, iTunes will revert to iCloud for the next backup.

Your logic isn't exactly solid. First, your HD should itself be backed up. Second, an iTunes backup to the HD is a thorough complete backup while any backup (iTunes or other) to iCloud is a partial backup.
