Dell 1600n won't print from my new imac

How can I get my new imac to print to my dell 1600n mfp? I have the driver cd for the printer but I don't think it has a driver for a mac. my mac recognizes the printer on the network but without the driver, can't print to it. Any solution? Thanks.

imac 20", Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm thinking about buying a Mac and have been browsing to see if my Dell 1600n will be compatible.

From what I've found, you should install the printer as a Xerox 1600n - it seems Xerox is indeed tha manufacturer of this printer.

To use the network scan feature, you can also have a look at the following page: http://www.jon.demon.co.uk/dell1600n-net-scan/

Do me a favour? Let me know if this works?? I want to know if I can bring my printer over to a Mac.

The 1600n is quite different from the 1700, despite the model numbers being so close. The 1600n is a multifunction laser whereas the 1700 is a laser printer, through and through.

Still, there shouldn't be a problem printing to the 1600n through ethernet as long as you specify the IP address (make sure the printer's address is static).
