I am trying to connect my new iPod to my computer it keeps telling me to install drivers for this device, but I do not know what that means or what driver to install, please help.

I Just got a new iPod nano and I am trying to connect it to my laptop, however, it keeps saying I need to update my device driver software. I have uninstalled and installed my iTunes but that did nothing. As I have no other ideas I am currently repeating that procedure, I really need help I would love to have music and enjoy this iPod.
