Tattoos with iwatch

So I have been so excited to buy an iwatch and I finally got one. But there have been several issues because of the tattoo on my wrist. I wasn't getting notifications, apps weren't working properly, so i tried to wear it on my other wrist but it is super uncomfortable and difficult to use. So after doing some research I turned off the wrist detection and it has been working much better. However, I wanted to know what apps will this affect since I don't have it on. I am debating if I should return the watch but I love it and want to keep it. But these issues for the price I paid is not worth it to me. Any thoughts?
