Can't disable or turn off screensaver

I can't turn off or disable my screensaver.

Under Desktop & Screen Saver, where it says "Start screen saver," it's stuck at 30. I can't slide it to "Never."

Under Hot Corners, "Disable Screen Saver" is selected for all four. It still comes on after 30 minutes.

There are other discussion posts about this. It was recommended that I delete the "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" file/files from /Library/Preferences and reboot my system. I did this. It's didn't work. My screensaver still comes on at 30 minutes. And those files are gone now.

Any other ideas? It's frustrating. I would love to uninstall the whole program, but I can't see anywhere how to do this.

A Safe Mode boot deletes system caches that may help.

Top left corner of your screen click the Apple  > Shut Down.

After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple  menu. From the drop down menu click: Restart

Then open System Preferences > Desktop & Saver then select the Screen Saver tab then select Never from the Start after: pop up menu.

Go to System Preferences then Desktop and Screensaver There is where you make changes to your ScreenSaver If that doesn't work click on Displays and see if you can make changes there. One thing to always remember is to shut off or restart your computer and this will reset your system and will normally take care of any glitches.
