Where can I find a charger for 2008 MacBook?

Thank you. I know about this charger from Apple but all of the reviews are not very good. Lots of 1 stars, so we are hesitant to buy it. We were looking for either an updated, better Apple charger or a non-Apple alternative that may be better.

Do you have personal experience with this Apple charger yourself? (good or bad?)

The other hesitancy for this concerns the price. $80.00 is terribly expensive for him/us at this time. I take it there's no other less-expensive alternative? We don't need to have it last forever, just another year or two. I appreciate your input regarding this. Thank you.

I am a loyal Apple user for more than 30 years. Used the very first Mac to come out so I don't buy 3rd party "knockoffs"...of anything. I do know, however, that sometimes you can find a similar item for a lesser price. For example, when my Mac's mouse finally was of no use anymore (used for years, the click just didn't respond anymore), I bought a Logitech mouse for around $20 when Apple's mouse is $70. I simply couldn't afford it and the Logitech mouse works well with my iMac and is safe to use.

My son is 23 years old and asked me to help in this search. Usually people in this forum are quite helpful and I have an account, so I asked. You asking me if I think my son is worth $80 is rude and offensive. I would never buy anything nor have him spend any money on anything that is unsafe to use, in any way shape or form. For you to imply otherwise is awful.

Yes, I used "terribly expensive", adding "at this time." Apparently, you've never had to count your pennies or been unemployed for an extended amount of time where you research all of your options before making a choice. I KNOW the value and realize the safety issues. That's not what this is about. I asked for information, not for you to make assumptions and pass judgement.
