I can't import movies from my Canon SX30 to iMovie. I get the message "No clips match the filter setting." I can import them into Photos

I understand that you are unable to import videos from your camera in iMovie. Unfortunately, your camera model is not supported with iMovie. However, you can import videos with either Image Capture or Photos. iMovie will able to access photos and video clips from Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture. Here is more information regarding this.
