Keyboard shortcut for "Add a face" in Photos

Is there a keyboard shortcut to add a face in a picture with Photos (Version 1.0)?

Or should I firt open the Information box, click on "Add faces", Move the circle on the picture to the face and click again to edit the name?

With iPhotos, this command was a menu entry so that it could be triggered from the System Preferences as a new hotkey. Must I regret this as another functionality loss of the iPhotos -> Photos transition?

There is no keyboard shortcut. the list of shortcuts is here: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6e593112

And you cannot add a shortcut on your own, because the "Add Face" command is not a menu entry.

So, add new faces from the Info panel. https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/phtad9d981ab

If Photos has found the face, you can simply type the name into the textfield below the face, if you keep the faces names showing:

You can name faces that have been identified in an individual photo.

  1. Double-click a photo to open it.
  2. Choose View > Show Face Names.
  3. Click the name (or “unnamed”) under a face, type a name, then press Return (or choose a name that appears as you type).

To stop showing face names in photos, choose View > Hide Face Names.

Of course I know that I can't add a keyboard shortcut to a mouse-click command, that's why I spent the time to make the precision that it used to be "a menu entry"...

And obviously I know how to add faces via the infobox since it is exactly what I described in the second sentence of my request...

Finally the "Add a face" command I was referring is precisely useful when a face has not been detected, hence making your explanation on how to name an unnamed face irrelevant.

But still, thank you léonie, for confirming that the shortcut simply does not exist (I had looked at the shortcut list but was hoping that there was an hidden trick somewhere...)

I linked to the help page to point out, that the photos are scanned only once, when the faces are imported. Apple does not document, how the Face detection algorithm works, but you may have noticed, that Photos is finding in the initial scan much more faces than iPhoto ever did on the initial scan, and the threshold for recognizing a face seems to be much lower. At least, I am seeing many more false positives suggested by Photos, that are no faces at all than in iPhoto.

So all the support we have in Photos is for naming the faces that have been found, and weeding out the false positives quickly.
