Q: Restrict Access to recovery partition/fimware without affecting bootcamp?
Is it possible to restrict access to the firmware/recovery partition without affecting the Bootcamp OS selection?
Background:
I work for a college and they want to dual boot Mac OS and Windows 7. I have configured this and everything is working fine except that students can potentially get into the firmware or recovery partition of the Mac, which is not an ideal situation, due to the OS selection (Hold 'option' on boot) listing the recovery partition. Passwording the firmware prevents access to the OS Selection so I can't use this. Does anyone have any solutions/suggestion to address this?
Thanks in advance

1. To switch between OSX and Windows, the normal method is Boot Camp: Set the default operating system . Using the Alt/Option key is during power-up only.
2. The procedure for Firmware Password is What is a firmware password and how do I set one up? - Apple Support . The only method of recovering this password is If you lost or forgot your firmware password - Apple Support .
3. Recovery HD on the internal disk is not required, if you do not plan to use OS X Yosemite: Use Find My Mac or FileVault encryption. You can always use an external OSX disk with a RecoveryHD to restart the Mac in such cases. This also makes your MBR a non-standard one and may present some issues during Software Updates.
4. OS X Yosemite: About FileVault encryption is tied to Find My Mac and requires Recovery HD.
Please also see iCloud: "Find My Mac" service is dimmed, "Recovery system update required" appears in OS X Lion v10.7.2 or later - Apple… .
