Can connect my HDMI CCTV DVR to my iMac screen?

Reading this just now. I have the same or similproblem, trying to get my iMac to connect with my security dvr. Basically to use it as a monitor. No luck. Sad to see the other person responding, who's suppose to be 'smart' could understand the very simple basic question you were asking.

DVR is the recover for the cctv system.

Most dvrs are connected to either a satellite or cable tv system. Where do you get the content that is recorded on your dvr?

That is correct, check with your DVR provider (cabletv, satellite, etc..) and I suspect they do not allow you to watch and keep content on any computer.

If your iMac is 2011 or newer, you will need to

use some type of video capture device. Depending

on how good a quality is required, they can be relatively

inexpensive or very pricey and be either USB3 or Thunderbolt

based.

If it is a late 2009 iMac or 2010, you may be able to use Target Display

Mode. However, its usability with anything other than Apple computers

is usually questionable regardless of ant adapters. If you have such an

iMac, you would need to find an HDMI->MiniDisplay Port adapter. It needs

to be this direction because both are "directional".
