safari showing web page like PDF

safari shows a page on a website in what looks like PDF (mainly blue text in a list) and makes it impossible to view or order. It seems that i need a newer version of Safari. How do i do that? I dont want Yosemite as that caused no end of trouble when I installed that recently. I have safari version5.1.10
