when I turn on my phone or wake it up, the date and time used to be shown on the welcome screen or locked screen. Somehow I turned this off or changed it. How do I get this back?

You can't disable the date on the lock screen. That option does not exist. Do a clean install to solve weird issues.

You know what I think it is the new update because all of my friends who updated have the same problem. Apple should do a new update to fix it
Yes but it has no time on my home screen and I think it is the new update as it was not like that before the update
Date and time shows when you open your phone on the page asking to unlock the phone , but it does not stay this way for long. And if you unlock, omly the time will show om the top page where are your apps

You're responding to a thread that is two years old. So, it's impossible that any recent update is the cause of the problem described in this thread.

Then you should start your own thread. You'll get more and better help that way.
You can't disable this unless you have a jailbroken phone. There is no setting to turn this off.
When charging the phone it first shows the battery percentage and after a few seconds it shows the date, maybe that's what you mean?

Thank you for the reply. I may have misspoke.It is the screen that first comes on when you click the button and the wall paper comes up and you are asked to unlock the phone. This is when I remember having the date and time on this initial screen.
Tthe he phone is not jail broke, it is up to date with software and an AT&T service.
I suddenly had this issue too. Turned the phone off and when I turned it back on the date and time were back.
