"Up Next" feature not compatible with accessories

Just downloaded Apple Music and connected it to my car (2011 Infiniti M37) through the iPod dock cable in the console. Where previously I was able, I cannot add songs to the Up next queue or select play next. This is a dealbreaker since queues are easily manageable on Spotify (through gestures, no less). If Apple Music breaks compatibility with 'older' accessories then I'll gladly stick with Spotify. (For background, I went to a Genius appointment and they had me buy a new cable and reset my iPhone 6

I haven't tried over bluetooth (because I don't want to play music over bluetooth because it's lower quality than a hard connection). I get the error message that "This device doesn't support 'Up Next' and it doesn't give me an option to play next on the '...' menu). It works on other bluetooth devices like my Bose Soundlink so I imagine it works over bluetooth. But again, I don't want to do that. Called apple about it and even the Support manager had never heard of it. Hopefully fixed in iOS9.

Edit: I've gone back to Spotify largely because of issues with Apple Music like this and also the fact that it has deleted playlists that took hours to make. Not impressed so far Iovine.

I have this same problem in a 2009 Infiniti G37X. It has something to do with the wiring on the cable I believe. I have the ipod 30 pin cable connector going through a Scoche adapter in order to charge and play music through the car. If I remove the Scoche power adapter, everything works as expected with Apple Music, Siri, etc but the iPhone will not charge. If I connect the Scoche adapter, it charges and everything on the phone works as expected except UP NEXT functionality. Its really frustrating and has been working fine for years up until Apple Music launched.

Not sure why there are any "special" requirements with accessories and the "up next" feature specifically. Can anyone explain?
