How to install 32 bit iTunes on 64 bit Windows 8.1 Pro?

I recently upgraded my iTunes to 12.2 - and it automatically sniffed my browser user agent and offered me the 64 bit version (now that Apple do a proper 64 bit version).

However unfortunately the 64bit iTunes cannot use 32bit plugins.

I went and downloaded the 32bit iTunes but when I try to install it I get a message telling me no because I am running 64 bit OS.

Is there any way around this?

Or will Apple perhaps allow for 32 bit plugs to be used?

64bit iTunes works just fine for me on 64bit Windows 8.1 Pro.

The problem is I use the Last.fm Scrobbling plugin, which is 32 bit and if you copy the plugin into the relevant folder of iTunes you get a plugin-failed-to-load style message every time iTunes starts until you remove it.

Prior to upgrading to iTunes 12.2 I was running the 32 bit version of iTunes.

Now Apple has a 64 bit version of iTunes it does not allow the installation of 32bit iTunes on 64 bit Windows.

The above plugin doesn't have a 64bit version available so having upgrading iTunes I'm now stuck - I held out upgrading due to a bug I had previous but finally bit the bullet - and now I am forced onto a version that seems to have no way to run 32bit plugins and Apple won't allow me to install 32bit iTunes.

My understanding is that some have said this is a 32-bit version of iTunes. However, if you go to that page I showed you, and then select the Browse by Product Button, then select iTunes, there is a link for the 32-bit version. You may, however run into issues with the library being created on a newer version. I'll try to find you a document on taking care of that issue. You can also use this ASC User tip for additional into on downloads. Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates This user has information about library issues. I'm trying to locate it now. Actually, the info you need is under the Further Information section of that document.
