how to present .mov file via projector

what file type is best for presentation of a short video,

edited in Final Cut Pro X-

in pro res 422 format,

the final presentation will be projected to a large screen-- through a Projector.

DVD? keep in in .mov file and play from a lap top?

please advise.

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

We use h.264 for just about everything these days. Windows will play them easily.

We advise our clients that the movies must be copied to and then played back from their hard drives and not from the network servers or from a thumb drive.


but you must test everything before committing. If in doubt, give your client a WMV, H.264 (m4v) and a couple of other formats and bit rates. They can use what they want. Another thing to consider these days is if the projector/computer/player can understand square or rectangular pixels.
