Pages' default letter font

Good afternoon everyone,

I would like to know how to change the default font of the app. I am currently making some templates for my document and that requires choosing letter fonts that are not Helvetica. Despite changing ‘body’ letter font to, lets say, Athelas, Helvetica continues to be the default font in the document when I add elements such as Tables, Charts and Index.

My question is… In a given document, is it possible to change the default font used by the app?

Start with a blank template. Change the font charactistics as needed. Then, File > Save as Template. Give the custom template the name of the font, or include the font name in the template name — so you can readily choose it.

Hi, thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, that did not solve my question. I already did that but I am afraid my problem is a bit more tricky. Despite doing that, I cannot set another letter font as default font for some elements in the document such as Charts. They are always in Helvetica, no matter what I do. Sure, I can change them manually, but that is very inconvenient if I add copious amounts of them in my document.
I want a way to get rid of Helvetica, and use another font, in all elements of the document.

Pages '09 v4.3 and Pages v5 (any release) do not provide any single, or automatic means to change the default Helvetica font in every document object. Not in the preferences file, and not with AppleScript. Apple hard-coded this font name into the Application.
