Q: OS X Keeps "Switching" Apps

My iMac keeps changing the current app but isn't displaying anything else. It just randomly, every 10 seconds or so, makes the current window inactive, as if I switched apps or windows. It switches back to that windows after a couple of seconds. This happened out of the blue. It has stayed across multiple restarts. It did not occur in a safe boot. In Activity Monitor, It seems like a new process starts when this happens and then terminates when it goes back. I'm not sure what the process is but the number goes up and down by one.

What is happening and how to I go about fixing it?

Is there a way to "snapshot" the Processes in activity monitor so I can compare and see what process is running?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the window you are using goes inactive and another window goes active. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Since the problem did not happen in safe mode, it may be a login item causing this. If you remove items from the list and restart, you can see if the issue goes away.
