My phone screen has developed a yellow line.what is it
a yellow line has appeared down the left hand side of my phone. What is it. ? I have not dropped the phone.

If I understand correctly you are seeing an anomalous yellow line on the left side of your screen. The issue here will either be hardware or software, so let's troubleshoot the software side. Start by quitting all the running apps, and resetting the device:
1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the above doesn't resolve the issue then backup your device to iTunes, and restore it as new and see if that makes the line go away.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify its still gone and the software just needed reinstalled.
If it remains then your phone will need service:
