what is the best modern wifi card for a power book g3 that supports 802.11g and can I get a usb to fire wire adapter to plug in a camera for imovie

Which G3 do you have? There were three common models that, in order of increasing "newness," were the Wallstreet (black keys; no USB ports); the Lombard (brownish keys; USB 1.0 ports but no FireWire ports); and the Pismo (brown keys with USB 1.0 and FireWire ports). As you are looking for a FW adaptor I suspect you have one of the first two.


The Wallstreet and Lombards do not have slot for an Apple Airport card.


There are wireless USB adaptors but many require Mac OS10.5 or higher, something your PBG3 can't run. Also, you can go no faster than wireless "b" rates when plugged into a USB 1.0 slot. Look at this page to see system requirements:

That firm is my favorite vendor for odd Mac accessories and they do not list any USB or Firewire adaptors that will fit your PCMCIA card slot. I suspect you'll be shopping for used on auction sites. Look to name brands like Sonnet, Adaptec, and SIIG for best results.
