force touch trackpad not giving proper haptic feedback

Hi everyone,

My trackpad's haptic feedback is not really working. You know when you click the force touch it simulates a really noticeable vibration like a real trackpad? Mine doesn't give that feedback. You barely feel the vibration, and I already checked the "Click - Light, Medium, Firm" option on the Trackpad settings and everything is normal. Any help on how I can get it back to normal is appreciated.

I have this issue on and off and, I agree, it's really annoying. Here's what have worked for me so far:

- H/W test at genius bar failed track pad. Track pad replaced., Was OK for 31 days after that

- Genius bar re-calibrated trackpad , OK for about a week

- Reset SMC - no change

- Reset NVRAM .. now better but still a different feel.

If you are anywhere near an apple store, I'd suggest you take it in and ask them to hook it up to their test rig.

I have another MBP that does not exhibit this issue and both were built from the same back-up so I'm pretty sure its not a driver issue of sorts.
