Gray Translucent bar appeared on bottom of screen on iPhone 6. Can it be removed?

All of a sudden, there is a gray translucent bar on the bottom of my screen on my iPhone 6. I tried shutting it off and back on, and I updated to version 8.4, but will not go away. Doesn't seem to be serving any purpose. Is there a way to remove it?

THanks kb1951 but this is a brand new bar that just appeared after using the phone for a year. I now have 2 bars, the docking bar which comes above my frequently used apps at bottom of my phone, and this new bar which starts at the bottom of the screen and covers half the app icons. So strange. When I take a screen shot, it does not show up on the pic.

Try a forced restart: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the restart.

However, this also could very well be a hardware issue, and as previously suggested, should be looked at by Apple or an Authorized Service Center.
