How to Sync Mailboxes Across Devices

I have a mac . com email address and have thousands of emails sitting in my inbox and in various folders/mailboxes. I typically use either the Mail app on my iMac or MacBook and the iOS Mail on my iPhone. I'm running the latest OS on all devices.

I've attempted to start organizing it all into folders to make my life easier, but I've noticed when I put mail into specific folders it doesn't always show up on the different devices.

I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and how I can set it up to where, when I sort mail into appropriate folders, those folders will sync across all devices and save me from having to do everything three or four different times.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming your account is set up correctly, it is IMAP and will sync automatically between all devices where it is set up the same.

When you create new Mailboxes (folders), be sure to create them in the account and not in the On My Mac section. On My Mac is local only to that device. If you create them in the account, they should be created as IMAP mailboxes and available to all devices.
