is it worth getting my iPad repaired ?

Hi i need some advice I have an iPad mini 2012 edition I have some issues with it. Like start up is very slow takes between 35 to 45 seconds and shut down takes even longer. Once started up it sometimes sticks or freezes when loading apps or internet and when using them. Battery generally lasts 2 days. I can't play ultra violet movies on flixster despite having followed all of flixsters advice to solve this issue. I have tried resetting various settings on then iPad and restoring the iPad with no luck at all.I have been in to apple store about the screen sticking and freezing issue before in march and they said it was a firmware issue which they updated for me and this seemed to sort it out for a couple of weeks and then it came back worse than before with the added issue of slow start up and shut down time and battery not lasting more than two days even without hardly being used when it use to last at least ten days and the problems with my ultraviolet movies which all use to work fine. what i want to know is this worth going along to my local apple store to book an appointment to see if they can fix it or is it going to be a lot of money to get it fix?

You'll need to book a genius appointment unless you only want a quick chat with whoever is available…

Find the relevant store & make an appointment, there can be long waiting times.

It's not clear if the device is misbehaving or just getting old. Batteries do not maintain the same charge over time. Apple generally replace iOS devices, it is easier than repairing them. If you opt for a replacement it will be for a fee and it will be a refurbished model. I'm not sure if you can convince them that a replacement is appropriate, it may depend on the history of this device & if you had Applecare etc.

Good luck

In response to the software issue: That iPad is about 4 years old and is about maxed out on software updates. Usually the newer software running on older devices the slower they will be. That's just the cost we pay for the added new features. If you feel it necessary to get it looked at take it to apple for a genius bar appointment.

Since it is already out of warranty, your only options for the battery issue will be to

1. have apple replace the battery (which will cost $99 USD)

2. Live with the device until it can no longer function.

3. Get a new iPad mini 3 or refurbished iPad from the online store.
