I Have been using email on my ipad for years without any problem. however, today it tells me it has downloaded 15 new messages but they are not visible in my inbox. It does appear to be sending my emails. I have restored settings but it did not help.

Have you changed your password recently? You can try removing email from your iPad, then going to your email settings, change the password, then add it back to your iPad with the new password.
THank you for your reply. I do not use a password for my email. when I open my email it says it is downloading but the new emails do not appear in my inbox. It appears to be sending my emails ok.
I've never heard of a mail server that doesn't require a password. You keep saying "appears to be sending". Does it really send or not? My guess is it doesn't send. It just "appears" to be sending.

Go to settings Email accounts delete account thatd not working
Then add back again .
