My iPad is not showing my emails

I Have been using email on my ipad for years without any problem. however, today it tells me it has downloaded 15 new messages but they are not visible in my inbox. It does appear to be sending my emails. I have restored settings but it did not help.

iPad 2, iOS 8.1
