I'm trying to install itunes on my wife's new notebook with win 7. The download just does its thing but I can't find the location. I really despise this new business of not letting you choose a download location.
I've looked in all the downloads folders and searched the entire drive to no avail.
It downloads to wherever you told it to download to. That's up to your browser, not the file you're downloading or the site you're downloading from.
The default in Internet Exploder is C:\users\youruseraccount\Downloads If you can't find it there and your browser didn't give you a choice, you'll need to check the preferences for your browser to see where it's defaulting to if you can't find the file.
In Windows 7 you should find the installer in C:\Users\username\Downloads. It is possible that you've encountered a problem that's been around for several iTunes releases, where nothing actually downloads and you skip straight to the "Thank you for downloading iTunes" page with no indication that anything's gone wrong.

I'm using Firefox, always have, problem is: itunes doesn't ask where to save, as many files currently do. I think hhgttg27 has it right as my screen just flashed and then Thanked me for downloading.
Thanks hhgttg27, got the files right away and got a prompt as to where to save them. I wish you could give me a bookmark for the file location so I can find newer versions for initial installs. I've got an 8 machine network n the house with 2 NAS devices.

FYI, it's up to your browser, in this case that would be firefox, to give you that option. It has absolutely nothing to do with what you're trying to download.
