Found a DVD disc of photographs that was created on May 25, 2002.
So far, unable to get to see any of the photos.
Are they lost?
Any suggestions on how to retrieve?

what is on the DVD? JPEGs? An iPhoto Library? Photos from a Photo lab in a priportary format?
The answer to our question is totally dependent on exactly is on the DVD and only you now that

How was the DVD created? Is it a DVD disk with an iPhoto library on it or just a folder? What is the title of the disk and the folder or file on the disk?

If you're running Photos then you'll need to to use the iPhoto Library Upgrader tool to prepare it. Then drag the library onto the Photos icon in the Dock to open and convert it to a Photos library. Once it's a Photos library the only way to get the photos into your main Photos library is to export the original files to a folder on the Desktop and import them into your main library.
cannot see the file-type of ANY photo (I'm sure they are jpg's)
Have "iPhoto1.1.1.dmg" . . . when I try to Open the disk, I get "The following disk image couldn't be opened" a Box below, and in the box
Image Reason
iPhoto1.1.1.dmg legacy image should be converted

That is an installer for version 1.1.1 of iPhoto the application. It's not a library.
Can I retrieve photos from iPhoto 2002?
