Mac mail stopped working. Nothing was changed in settings. This happened before when I downloaded Mavericks. Any ideas?

What does Mail/Window/Connection Doctor Show? If the server is red, select it and look at the Show Details box.

That is correct. It will open but will not send or receive. Keeps asking for password and says the account is offline.

My Mac mail stopped working. This happened before when I downloaded Mavericks and certain settings were changed by the download. Is it possible that something happened with an update? Any ideas?
