After shutting down unexpectedly, mini restarts halfway thru the boot up process and pressing D has no effect

Thanks volume Macintosh HD was repaired successfully.
When verifying disk permissions : "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired. Not sure if this is ok or not.
Does the OS have to be reinstalled?
Maybe permission repair messages ore OK. See:

Does the Mac boot OK?
If not then try reinstall the OS
